Sonic Fictions
What will music sound like in the distant future? I try to answer this through Sonic Fictions, a collection of short electronic pieces inspired by mid-20th century science fiction. In particular, the project is a retro futuristic depiction of music produced by sentient machinery.
I implemented electronic and heavily processed acoustic sounds to represent algorithmic synthesis and the robot’s internal mechanics respectively. My production process was influenced by musique concrète, elektronische Musik and cosmic jazz, resulting in an ethereal yet unhinged sound.
While the first three tracks are refined and structured pieces, the final two are studies that showcase the different production techniques.
